2020 ARE BEE’S KNEES OF EMERGING INDUSTRIES IN INVERCLYDE
They took the top award in the annual Greenock Chamber of Commerce Awards held at Kip Marina last Friday. It’s official, Greenock based 2020 Renewables are the “Bee’s Knees” of Emerging Industries in Inverclyde.
The Emerging Industries category, sponsored by Riverside Inverclyde, was one of 11 that were announced at the ceremony.
Accepting the award on behalf of his company Alan Baker, Managing Director of 2020 Renewables said: “Receiving the Emerging Industries award ends a fantastic week for 2020 as we’ve just finished construction on a 24MW wind farm in South Wales. This year we’ve made planning applications for
over 150 MW of Scottish projects, secured consent for a project in Dumfries and Galloway and construction on another in East Renfrewshire is due to begin soon.
“Locally, we’ve commenced consultation on Inverclyde wind farm and hope to be able to bring the benefits of renewables to the local community and local businesses.
“I’d like to thank Riverside Inverclyde for not only sponsoring this award but for helping us to get the business established in 2010.
“From those early days we’ve grown to be one of the largest independent renewables companies in Europe with a capital spend that will be in excess of £700 million over the next three years.
“The award recognises the hard work and dedication of our team and we look forward to continuing to invest and grow our business in Inverclyde.”
The Bee’s Knees Awards are organised by Greenock Chamber of Commerce to recognise the achievements of businesses operating in the key sectors of energy and renewables, the creative industries and tourism and leisure.
